Tech Hound can help back up your… Car?

A skid steer and a truck

What do this Bobcat T650 Skid Steer and this Toyota Pickup have in common?

They can both see what’s behind them when they backup, thanks to the Carpuride W903 Backup camera that I installed in both of them.

I’ve been using the Carpuride W903 in my truck and this skid steer, and it’s awesome for dash cams and Apple CarPlay. Here’s how I set it up.

In my truck, I used the provided mount to stick it to the dashboard for a solid hold. In the skid steer, I used a RAM 1" ball mount for easy adjustment and removal. Both are hardwired to turn on and off with the vehicle, but you can manually turn it on when the vehicle’s off to record if needed. I connected the truck via Bluetooth for audio through the speakers and used an AUX cable in the skid steer for clear sound. The screen auto-adjusts brightness, great for day or night.

The dash cams record front and back for safety and evidence if something happens. Apple CarPlay makes navigation and hands-free calls simple, especially on the skid steer. I hid the cables behind the dash, drilling small holes where needed. It’s tough enough for dusty, rough conditions.

I 3D printer a rudimentary mount for the dash cam and the roll bar on my truck.

The top-down view really helps when I’m backing out a somewhere and need to see around me. The added convenience of a recording dash cam is just icing on the cake.
